Manufacturers of Screens & Crushing MachineryExtec products are manufactured in Swadlincote, Derbyshire, UK in a new purpose-built factory, with outstanding production facilities. Extec use the MP Filtri LPA2 hydraulic system contamination analyser for measuring the cleanliness levels of the hydraulic systems. Prior to completion, each Extec machine is flushed with ultra-fine filtration and the LPA2 particle counter from MP Filtri is used to ensure that the hydraulic systems meet the required cleanliness standards. Extec demand quality products and quality control systems for their high technology machines. Some day, all crushers will be made and tested this way!

LPA2 - A Necessary Investment For Hydraulic Systems As a supplier to a major construction equipment manufacturer Related Fluid Power of Cuparmuir, Scotland have recently invested into the purchase of an LPA2 Laser Particle Analyser. Related Fluid Power manufacture high quality cartridge valves and custom designed manifolds, to both the small and large Original Equipment Manufacturer markets. Supplying these components requires a strongly formalised Quality Control system, audited to strict guidelines that are constantly reviewed. To satisfy supply requirements individual components must meet a specified cleanliness standard and be accompanied with documentary evidence. The LPA2 allows Related Fluid Power to achieve these requirements and provides the requisite documentation. "We find the LPA2 easy and quick to use. Its readouts are clear and together with its robustness make it ideal for a production environment." By investing into an LPA2 Laser Particle Analyser, Related Fluid Power are able to meet the strict standards required by OEM's and produce components warranted to International Standards.

VAI is a world leader in steel and aluminium materials manufacturing. (Process line of a typical aluminium mill. By kind permission of VAI UK.) VAI Fluid Power division design and supply complete hydraulic control systems the manufacturing process. These high-technology applications within this industry depend upon the hydraulic fluid being maintained at a specified ISO 4406 cleanliness standard. VAI use the LPA2 particle counter to establish initial start-up cleanliness results through commissioning and then to provide a permanent monitoring system to the end user. Accurate and effective fluid condition monitoring is essential in these high cost, automated applications.

HYTEC HYDRAULIC ENGINEERING | |
Condition Monitoring - A 'Lifesaver' Offshore The North Sea offers some of the least hospitable operating conditions on this planet; therefore equipment reliability is of paramount importance. Hydraulic systems are used extensively in the offshore market and manufacturers of equipment for this environment must ensure that their products are able to survive and operate correctly within extremes of conditions.
Hytec Hydraulic Engineering Ltd, based in Wishaw & Aberdeen are a leading manufacturer of hydraulic systems for both the industrial & offshore markets. They acknowledge that equipment reliability is vital to their company's reputation. Hytec 'Zone 1 Hazardous Area Hydraulic Power Unit' (as shown) offers unparalleled performance and reliability whilst conforming to the strictest intrinsic & environmental controls. The power pack shown is a 37 kW electrically motor driven unit, providing 150 lpm flow at 280 bar working pressure. The unit has fluid sampling & pressure testing points to allow cleanliness checks to be measured easily. These power units are used extensively on all rigs, generally for torque tong applications for coupling and uncoupling the various piping and casing systems. The unit contains MP Filtri suction & return line filters to provide a cleanliness level of NAS class 6. Zone 1 packs replace the old diesel driven power units with the advantages of better operating characteristics. They can be sited close to the deck operation; the units are compact, with increased reliability and with easy maintenance. All electrical components are Zone 1 Certified either EExd or Exi. The structure of the unit is a steel weldment and is fully loaded tested and NDT certified to Systems verification of all equipment cleanliness levels is conducted using the MP Filtri LPA2 - Laser Particle Analyser. The LPA2 has the ability to monitor On-line or via a Bottle Sampling unit, present instant results within the ISO 4406 Code, or NAS 1638 Standard, allows complete flexibility in operation. A comprehensive trend monitoring facility is provided by a user-friendly Windows based software package.
